Sony's Adam Driver-Led Sci-Fi Thriller 65 Sets Release Date

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has officially set the theatrical release date for their upcoming sci-fi thriller titled 65 from the A Quiet Place writing duo and producer Sam Raimi. Starring Oscar nominee Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters), and Chloe Coleman (My Spy), the film is now scheduled to make its debut on May 13, 2022. The film’s current release date will see 65 going up against Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ untitled project.

65 will be written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who are best known for co-writing A Quiet Place and directing the 2019 slasher film HauntThe film will be produced by Beck and Woods through their Beck/Woods banner along with the Evil Dead creator and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi through his Raimi Productions banner. Additional producers are Raimi Productions’ Zainab Azizi and Debbie Liebling, with Doug Merrifield set as an executive producer.

Further details about the film’s plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. This will also mark the directing duo’s latest collaboration with Sam Raimi after working together on one episode of Quibi’s 50 States of Fright.

Adam Driver will next be seen in upcoming 2021 films such as the musical drama Annette; Ridley Scott’s historical drama pic The Last Duel starring alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck; and Ridley Scott’s crime drama pic House of Gucci which will be led by Lady Gaga.

Meanwhile, Greenblatt and Coleman have both been cast in other high-profile projects, with Greenblatt currently in production for Eli Roth’s star-studded film adaptation of Borderlands. She will also next be seen in Netflix’s Awake and Warner Bros.’ In the Heights. As for Coleman, she is currently filming Paramount’s new Dungeons & Dragons movie starring Chris Pine. The young actress will also next be seen in Gunpowder Milkshake and Avatar 2.
