‘X-Men’ Star Tye Sheridan Reveals Why He Felt Sorry For Oscar Isaac

X-Men: Apocalypse star Tye Sheridan opened up about why he felt sorry for Oscar Isaac on the superhero set.

After the surprising success of X-Men: First Class and the rapturous, critically acclaimed Days of Future Past, it looked like Fox’s X-Men franchise could do no wrong. Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer quickly signed on for X-Men: Apocalypse and enlisted Oscar Isaac to play the deity-like Apocalypse. The film didn’t up becoming the darling Fox expected due to numerous issues, mostly linked to the film’s pacing and lackluster story. Isaac even denounced the film, mentioning numerous times how uncomfortable shooting in the Apocalypse costume was. Now that a considerable amount of time has passed since the film wrapped, Cyclops actor Tye Sheridan opened up about how he felt bad for the Apocalypse actor.

In conversation with Looper to promote The Card Counter, which also stars Oscar Isaac, Tye Sheridan opened up about how he felt sorry for his co-star on the set of Apocalypse.

“I just felt so bad for him [on X-Men: Apocalypse] because we were outside shooting in Montreal in the summer. It can get really muggy and warm. It’s a bit like New York. He just had all these prosthetics and this crazy cape thing, and I remember the way he would sit down. He couldn’t even sit in a chair. He just had to sit on a stool that was elevated.”

“He just looked uncomfortable all the time. I just remember looking at him sometimes and feeling so sorry for him. So this was a much better experience as far as comfort.”

Oscar Isaac previously referred to working on X-Men: Apocalypse as an excruciating experience because of the 40-pound suit that he had to wear. Isaac is now set to appear as Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight for a Disney Plus series opposite Ethan Hawke.

Here is the official synopsis for Tye Sheridan’s Dark Phoenix:

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.

Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

Dark Phoenix is now available on Digital HD, 4k Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Tye Sheridan and the future of the X-Men!
