‘Sex and the City’ Sequel Launch Revealed at HBO Max Europe Launch – The Hollywood Reporter

WarnerMedia’s HBO Max shared some much-anticipated programming teasers and updates on Tuesday as executives unveiled details for the streaming service’s upcoming European launches.

Among the first announcements was the launch timing for the much-anticipated Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That…, which will see Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis as Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte back on the streets of Manhattan. The show will debut on HBO Max in December, the streamer shared without immediately providing an exact date.

The HBO Max original marks “the new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series Sex and the City” from executive producer Michael Patrick King and follows the three women “as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s,” according to the streamer.

The series is currently filming in New York and includes previously announced cast members Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Chris Noth, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Willie Garson, and Evan Handler.

The news about the launch timing came during a virtual event ahead of the planned launches in various European markets, with a lineup of speakers that included HBO Max executive vp and general manager Andy Forssell, Christina Sulebakk, general manager of HBO Max Europe, Middle East and Africa, Priya Dogra, president, WarnerMedia International, EMEA and Asia (excluding China) and Johannes Larcher, head of HBO Max International.

The event included a brief video that Sulebakk said she got from Parker who said “hello from New York City, Fifth Avenue,” adding: “I am here in New York, which wouldn’t allow me to be with you obviously, because I am shooting, as we speak, the next chapter of Sex and the City … with some beloved friends.”

Among the key content reveals made during Tuesday’s event, executives screened a teaser for Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, a new clip for the upcoming third season of Succession and a first look at Peacemaker with John Cena.

As of June, HBO and HBO Max had 67.5 million subscribers worldwide. HBO Max is currently available in the U.S. and 39 territories across Latin America and the Caribbean. Next year, 14 additional European markets, including Portugal and territories in Central and Eastern Europe, such as the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, will get the streamer.
