Rob Zombie is in Budapest Scouting MUNSTERS Locations

So it’s really happening. Rob Zombie is making The Munsters. We can’t stop him. I don’t think we should even if we could. Rob Zombie is a filmmaker that varies wildly from project to project. Some people love everything he’s made. Some people – me – only like 1 or 2 of his films. There’s no denying he’s got a knack for interesting ideas though.

Recently, Zombie has announced on his Instagram that he’s flying out to Hungary to location scout for The Munsters. Budapest is a city steeped in history and general spookiness. I can understand why Zombie is there. He’s been posting some far-out pictures while he’s there. Including an awesome statue he came across.

He also ran across an illegal bust of Dracula star Bela Lugosi while scouting for The Munsters. “When in Budapest you must visit the bust of Bela Lugosi located at Vajdahunyad Castle. Placed without permission in 2003 by German artist Hartmut Zech, it still stands on a ledge ten feet off the ground. This place is amazing. The locations are perfect.”

Glad to see Zombie is enjoying his time in Budapest. He also posted a video of an absolutely spooky castle. We don’t know if it’s where he’s filming or not. Budapest is an excellent location for The Munsters though. Lots of castles. The Munsters doesn’t have a release date or even a cast announced yet. Rumors are swirling about Richard Brake and Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) being tapped for the cast, but that’s all unconfirmed. Rumors also place The Munsters on a direct line for a streaming-only release on Peacock, NBC Universal’s streaming site. This is also unconfirmed.
