Marvel Studios has a lot in the works – over 30 new projects – and it’s hard to keep track of it all. One of the most highly anticipated films is the MCU’s version of Blade. It was first announced back in 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con but Marvel boss Kevin Feige has remained silent on the film’s progress ever since. But a recent post by Marvel Studio’s official India Twitter has given Marvel fans hope they will see the film soon.

The Marvel Studios India Twitter account announced a slate of Marvel Studios Phase 4 films and listed Blade as hitting theaters on October 7, 2022, saying:

Marvel Studios announced back in March that they had an untitled film planned for October 7, 2022, and many hoped at the time the secret film was Blade. However, back in May, Marvel pushed that back to October 6, 2023, still without officially revealing the title of the film.

If the Marvel Studios India Twitter account is to be believed that the Marvel film originally planned for October 7, 2022, was Blade, then Marvel fans can expect the Daywalker to hit theaters on October 6, 2023. Better late than never at this point.
Marvel Studios has shared very little about the Blade reboot leaving fans frustrated with the lack of development. At SDCC, Marvel Studios did announce that Mahershala Ali will star as the vampire hunter Eric Brooks in Marvel’s Blade. Ali has already played a Marvel character, Cornell Stokes, in Netflix’s Luke Cage. Though whether Luke Cage is a canon part of the MCU is up for debate.
Wesley Snipes previously played Blade in the Blade trilogy before the birth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has been said that without his successful franchise the MCU might not exist. He is not currently involved in the MCU’s reboot. His co-star from the Blade films Stephen Dorff (Deacon Frost) recently got in hot water for calling Black Widow (2021) “garbage.”
Blade is expected to begin filming sometime later this year but it has been pushed back twice already. The Marvel film will be directed by Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli). Stacy Osei-Kuffour, who worked on HBO’s Watchman, will write the script and Marvel did let fans know not to expect an R-rating.
Other than Mahershala Ali no other characters or casts have been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios. Though many fans are secretly hoping for a cameo by Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector AKA Moon Knight to set up a Midnight Sons project.
