Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honour the 1969 Stonewall uprising, which is generally considered to be the tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement.
SADIQ KHAN: I’m really proud of the contribution made by Londoners from the LGBTQ+ community to help make London the greatest city in the world. I believe diversity is not a weakness, it’s a strength. It is a month when we should be not just tolerating but embracing, celebrating those from different backgrounds, and I’m really proud to be the mayor of the most diverse city in the world.
