JioFiber broadband topped the Netflix speed index in April with 3.6 Mbps followed by Airtel, ACT Fibernet and Tata Sky Broadband came second with 3.4 Mbps speed. The internet service providers are trailing from March as they were by JioFiber to lead the speed as measured on the Netflix ISP index in March 2021 and gave an average speed of 3.6 Mbps. JioFIber has been leading the Netflix ISP charts for the past seven months and recently introduced a new offer of giving extra validity of 15 days and 30 days on semi-annual and annual broadband plans.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime-time Netflix performance on particular internet service providers (ISPs) around the globe. Netflix notes that it is not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network. 7 Star Digital, Alliance Broadband, D-VoiS, Excitel Broadband, Hathway, One Broadband, and YOU Broadband stood third on the ISP Index with 3.2 Mbps speed in April followed by GTPL, Spectra, and Syscon Infoway which stood on the fourth on the Netflix speed Index with 3.0 Mbps speed.
Government-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) along with Tikona stood joint fifth on the ISP Index with 2.8 Mbps speed and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) ranked sixth with 2.4 Mbps. India’s regional average internet speed was 3.2 Mbps speed. India stood on the third position in terms of speed as against the second position it had acquired in March.
India shared its position with Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Chile, France, Greece, Japan, Mexico, Paraguay, Poland, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago.
The highest speed, 3.6 Mbps, was given by Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland. On the second position with 3.4 Mbps were Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom and the United States.
