Jaime Lee Curtis Made Randy Pitchford Cry On The Borderlands Movie Set

It seems that Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford got a little teary-eyed on the set of his game’s upcoming movie.

Filming is underway in Hungary for the upcoming Borderlands movie, and apparently, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford is on hand to keep an eye on things. Although, we’re not sure how much he’ll be able to see if Jamie Lee Curtis is making him cry.

“Well… @jamieleecurtis made my eyes well up today on the set of Tannis’ lab – and she wasn’t even acting!” Pitchford tweeted recently. Presumably, he was just so proud of his game franchise being turned into a major motion picture that he was just overcome with emotion upon seeing Curtis dressed up like Tannis.

Pitchford’s tweet then started a conversation with game designer Cliff Bleszinski who congratulated him on how “hands-on” Pitchford is with the film. A fan then quipped that the movie had better not bomb as “the franchise is at stake,” but Bleszinski disagreed, saying that the Borderlands games will do just fine even if the movie doesn’t.

“That Super Mario Bros movie sure did kill that franchise,” Pitchford pointed out.

Listed as an executive producer, Pitchford’s true role on the set is to help give the video game background of Borderlands for director Eli Roth. “My whole thing is just to give these expert filmmakers everything I can give to help them make the best, most authentic video game to film adaptation possible,” Pitchford explained. “This team and this talent is just incredible. @eliroth is leading a really amazing ship here, Cliff.”
