A new Netflix Covid-themed film, directed and produced by Judd Apatow, is expected to shoot at Shepperton Studios and on location around London from February 2021.
Based on a script by Apatow and Pam Brady (South Park), the as-yet-untitled film follows a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film.
The project comes at a time when film and TV productions are desperately trying to continue filming, despite Covid case numbers rising in England and many parts of the country under Tier 4 restrictions, including the Capital.
Apatow’s long-time partner Barry Mendel will serve as executive producer on the project, which is expected to have an A-list cast.
This will be the first film that Apatow directs a project that isn’t at Universal, the studio he’s called home since his break-out blockbuster comedy The 40-Year Old Virgin in 2005.
Apatow and Netflix already have a good relationship on the TV front after working together on the Netflix series Love, which he co-created and executive produced.
