Rob Zombie Unveils First Image Of ‘Munsters’ House

The iconic haunted house at 1313 Mockingbird Lane is ready for its closeup.

Filmmaker/musician Rob Zombie–the man behind the upcoming feature film The Munsters–this week took to Instagram to reveal the first black-and-white look at his vision of the mansion that played such a prominent part in the classic ’60s TV show. Check out the photo on this page.

Construction updates on the mansion were posted over the summer, but this is the first peek at the completed project. Zombie, as reported by comicbook.com, said this detailed replica–part of the Budapest, Hungary set–was designed to be “exact” and “the most perfect Munsters house since 1964.”

Pre-production is now underway in Hungary, with no exact filming start yet announced. The movie–written and directed by Zombie–is expected to stream on Peacock.

One of the key elements of this Universal Pictures reboot–the actors who will play the familiar Munster clan–is still shrouded in mystery. It has been reported in some circles that Sheri Moon Zombie will take on the role of Lily Munster, with Jeff Daniel Phillips tackling the part of Herman. Rumors have mentioned Richard Brake, Daniel Roebuck, Jorge Garcia and even Cassandra Peterson (Elvira herself) as possible cast members.

The Munsters–which ran for 70 episodes on CBS from 1964-1966–starred Fred Gwynne as Herman, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily, Al Lewis as Grandpa, Butch Patrick as Eddie and Beverley Owen (later replaced by Pat Priest) as Marilyn.
