NCIS has a rival on its channel: FBI are competing with them with their second spinoff, FBI: International, and like NCIS’s newest series, NCIS: Hawaii, their crime investigations are going to be taking place outside of the country.
Moving from New York City, the show travels to another major city and this time, it’s in Europe. Headquartered in Budapest, Hungary, it follows the International Fly Team, who have the job of neutralising all threats towards the US, so they’re definitely globe-trotters.

Where is FBI: International filmed?
Budapest, Hungary
FBI: International was filmed on location in Budapest, Hungary. The Cinemaholic reports that the majority of exterior shots were filmed in the capital city, and some interior sequences.
Production took place across the country, as proved by an Instagram by Hungarian lighting crew, welite; it confirms that they filmed in the city of Szeged, a city south of Budapest.
An administrative building reportedly acts as the US Embassy in Madrid in one episode
Ivica Mark, who portrays Andrej Sipek in the pilot, showcased the beauty of Hungary during filming, with a shot of the Danube river.
It’s no surprise that CBS chose to film there: the country has a 30% tax rebate system for all foreign film productions thanks to their belief that they have a positive effect on the country’s GDP.
New York
Episode 1 was the third part of a three-hour crossover episode with FBI and FBI: Most Wanted, therefore some of it was filmed in the FBI headquarters of New York City, reportedly in Brooklyn.
When is FBI: International episode 2?
Titled ‘The Edge’, episode 2 will move to its weekly Tuesday slot by airing on September 28th, 2021 at 9/8c on CBS.
FBI fans are in luck; new episodes of FBI season 4 will air before FBI: International, and then be followed by new episodes of FBI: Most Wanted – it’s an FBI marathon every Tuesday night!
