The dog from John Wick – you know the one we’re talking about, don’t you? – is now living a happy life with a new family and has even had his name changed to ‘Wick’.
If you have seen any of the John Wick films, but particularly the first, you’ll know that Keanu Reeves’ titular character loves animals.
In fact, the reason that he sets out on the whole bizarre journey is that his car got stolen and his dog got killed.
Well, you might be happy to learn that the beagle that starred in the film wasn’t killed in real life – of course – and now has a happy life with his family, and even got to visit the set of John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum.
The dog, which was previously called Andy, but has now been renamed Wick, was trained for the movie by Kim Krafsky and Animal Actors International.
Krafsky told LADbible that after his brief brush with stardom, Andy was given away to a friend and her family, and is loving his life frolicking about with their children.
That’s a much better fate than the one that befell his on-screen persona.
Can a dog have a persona? Never mind. For the purposes of this article it’s fine.
Krafsky said: “Yes, Animal Actors International Inc. did all the John Wick movies, and I was the trainer for Andy.
“Andy is alive and well a friend of mine took him to live in their home and his name was changed to Wick by their kids.”
“He did come to visit everyone on set during the filming of JW3 [John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum] in New York City.”
It must have been nice for him to be reunited with Keanu, and for Keanu to be able to spend a bit of time with the dog that launched the whole John Wick ship in the first place.
Speaking to USA Today about the pooch’s star qualities, Krafsky said that he has a ‘rock star’ quality, adding: “He melts you with his eyes. He also has the right temperament. He and Keanu hit it off right away. But, then again, who wouldn’t love this puppy?”
She then told the New York Post: “There’s this thing about them, they’re just cute. They’re not overly large or small, they’re just a cuddly breed with those big sad eyes. The dog had to be outgoing, enjoy being around people and, of course, be beautiful. All of those things have to be wrapped up in to one animal.”
Well, it’s nice to know that he’s happy with his new family.
