10 Major MCU Characters Who Could Appear In Upcoming Disney+ Shows

While the previous Netflix series didn’t have any direct ties to the movies, Disney+’s MCU shows have all been overtly linked to the franchise’s big-screen output. The first two shows starred B-tier Avengers and the third stars a fan-favorite villain. There are plenty more Marvel shows coming to the Mouse House’s streaming platform, and it’s a safe bet that at least a few of them will feature major MCU players in the supporting cast.

Some characters’ appearances are already confirmed, like Bruce Banner in She-Hulk, Nick Fury in Secret Invasion, and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova (the new Black Widow) in Hawkeye. These other characters could show up, too.

10 Pepper Potts (Ironheart)

Gwyneth Paltrow has said that her stint in the MCU came to an end with the emotional closure of her final scenes with Robert Downey, Jr., but she could probably be convinced to come back with the right story.

In the upcoming Ironheart series, Pepper Potts could officially endorse Riri Williams as Tony Stark’s successor and give her a grant from Stark Industries to develop her tech like Tony himself did in the comics.

9 Shuri (Untitled Wakanda Series)

Shuri Black Panther Marvel

In addition to the Black Panther sequel, Ryan Coogler is developing a series for Disney+ that will focus on Wakanda. The show is rumored to be framed as an origin story for Okoye, the General of the Dora Milaje played by Danai Gurira.

But Okoye is unlikely to be the only familiar character who appears in the as-yet-untitled Wakanda series. T’Challa’s tech-savvy genius sister Shuri – the inventor of most of Wakanda’s coolest stuff – could also make an appearance.

8 Natasha Romanoff (Hawkeye)

Black Widow And Hawkeye In Avengers Endgame

Ever since it was teased in a throwaway line in the first Avengers movie, Marvel fans have been dying to see what happened on Black Widow and Hawkeye’s mission to Budapest. More broadly, fans want to see the pre-Avengers era of their friendship – working for S.H.I.E.L.D., kicking butt and taking names – fleshed out on-screen.

It’s a long shot, but it’s possible that Scarlett Johansson could play Natasha Romanoff alongside Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton in flashback sequences in the upcoming Hawkeye series.

7 Sam Wilson (Armor Wars)

One of the many Marvel series coming to Disney+ is Armor Wars, which will loosely adapt the comic book storyline of the same name and revolve around Tony Stark’s tech getting into the wrong hands.

While Don Cheadle is confirmed to lead the series as James Rhodes, the new Captain America could also be crucial to the story. Anthony Mackie could cameo as Sam Wilson in Cheadle’s show just like Cheadle cameoed as Rhodey in Mackie’s show.

6 Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel)

After debuting in her own Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel is slated to appear in Captain Marvel 2, which was recently titled The Marvels to reflect its growing roster of heroes.

In the comics, Carol Danvers is Kamala Khan’s idol. It’s possible that Brie Larson will make a cameo appearance as Carol to recruit Kamala for the events of The Marvels in the Ms. Marvel finale.

5 Thor (The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special)

Technically, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will just be a one-off, not a series. But if it’s popular, maybe Marvel will ask James Gunn to make some more holiday specials.

Confirmed to be set between the events of Thor: Love and Thunder (in which the Guardians are set to appear) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the intriguing upcoming Holiday Special could see the Guardians celebrating a fictional intergalactic holiday with the God of Thunder.

4 Maria Hill (Secret Invasion)

Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn are set to lead Marvel’s Secret Invasion series in the roles of Nick Fury and Talos, respectively, as they determine how much of Earth’s population has been taken over by Skrulls in disguise.

If Jackson is reprising his role as Fury, then there’s a good chance his most trusted confidant – Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders – could appear in the series, too.

3 Bucky Barnes (Untitled Wakanda Series)

Bucky No Arm

Bucky Barnes was on good terms with the Wakandans after the events of the Avengers movies, as they’d saved him from his Hydra brainwashing and then he’d helped to defend their borders from the Children of Thanos.

However, everything changed in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier when Bucky helped Helmut Zemo – the man who killed Wakanda’s king – escape from prison. As Bucky’s relationship with Wakanda becomes more complicated, he could appear in the untitled Wakanda series.

2 Daredevil (She-Hulk)

In the comics, She-Hulk is a lawyer who represents superheroes in court. Since Peter Parker has found himself in legal trouble following the bombshell twist ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home, some fans are expecting her to cameo in his next solo movie as his attorney.

But there’s another Marvel hero who’s passed the bar who could represent Peter: Daredevil. Seeing as She-Hulk and Daredevil are both lawyers, the former could bring on the latter as a consultant in her streaming series.

1 Tony Stark (Armor Wars)

Although Tony Stark has been killed off in the MCU and he’ll remain permanently dead, Armor Wars is confirmed to revolve around the aftermath of Tony’s death as his worst fears come true.

As the series is set to revolve around James Rhodes grappling with the loss of his best friend, Robert Downey, Jr. could appear alongside his long-time co-star Don Cheadle in flashbacks.
