Cancelo OUT of Euros with positive Covid test, England vs Croatia build-up, Mourinho praises Bellingham

GOOD MORNING FOOTBALL FANS

World football was in shock last night as Denmark star Christian Eriksen collapsed during his team’s Euro 2020 match against Finland.

The Inter Milan midfielder required several minutes of CPR but did regain consciousness and is currently in a stable position.

The game was abandoned in the 41st minute when the awful incident occurred but resumed once Eriksen had been stabilised.

Reports claim the ex-Tottenham hero FaceTimed his Denmark teammates and asked them to continue the match, which they lost 1-0.

Eriksen has received well wishes from many in football and beyond, with Prince William sending him a classy message last night.

Events in Copenhagen overshadowed Belgium’s 3-0 win against Russia in Saint Petersburg.

Eriksen’s Inter colleague Romelu Lukaku scored the Red Devils’ first goal and told the camera in celebration: “Chris, Chris… I love you.”

Wales’ tournament got off to a decent start as they secured a 1-1 draw against Switzerland in Baku thanks to a second-half header from Kieffer Moore.

And England will be hoping they can begin with a win when they face Croatia in their opening match today.

Manager Gareth Southgate will be without defender Harry Maguire due to his ankle injury and it seems unlikely Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson will be fit for the match either.

The other games today are Austria’s clash with North Macedonia and the Netherlands’ game against Ukraine.
