Kevin Hart Posts Instagram Pics Of Preparation For New Film ‘Borderlands’

Hart, who frequently posted on Instagram to update fans on his progress in his preparation to get jacked to play Roland The Soldier for ‘Borderlands.’

Kevin Hart is known for being that short, funny actor who likes to crack jokes – usually about himself. His biggest hits usually exist solely to make his fans laugh, and it isn’t often that you see his serious side.

That’s about to change, however, as the talented actor has teamed up with Lionsgate to create a film based on the hugely popular first-person shooter games Borderlands by 2k Games and Gearbox Software.

The film will be directed by Eli Roth of Inglorious Basterds stardom, and is being written by Craig Mazin. The project just finished up the end stages of pre-production, undergoing the process of rounding out the cast before they can start filming.

Hart, who frequently posts pics to his Instagram to detail major moments in his life, did so in his preparation to get jacked to play his new role as Roland The Soldier for Borderlands. In the game, Roland is your contact in Sanctuary, and while there are several main characters within the city limits, there are just as many outside in the different worlds you visit as a character.

Some of the other main characters have been set as well, the most noteworthy of which being the teenage demolition specialist, Tiny Tina, and Dr. Patricia Tannis.

Tannis will be played by original scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis, who also posted a picture to her Instagram poking fun at her past role as a brand ambassador for yogurt company, Activia.

Ariana Greenblatt of Avengers: Infinity War will play Tiny Tina, a character favorite for many who’ve played the game series, simply because she loves to blow up anything she can get her tiny little hands on.

While Lionsgate brings the mythical world of Pandora to life, fans of the video game will wait with palpable anticipation to see if the filmmakers can do the same stellar job of bringing the game to life that the teams at 2K games and Gearbox software did of creating it in the first place.

Of course, they’ll need some seriously good CGI special effects to nail Lilith’s siren abilities and to master all the villains that run rampant across Pandora. Everything from three-headed devil dogs to turret wielding bosses like KROM, who will lead his nasty band of psychos-violent outlaws and bandits who are hellbent on complete destruction even at their own demise.

Oliver Richters, better known as, The Dutch Giant will play KROM, most fittingly as he naturally stands 7′ 2″ tall and is a professional body builder and actor.

Of course Borderlands wouldn’t be anything without the loveable robot ClapTrap, who will be played by the one and only Jack Black. And as the main characters work to take down Handsome Jack, the main villain and his evil corporation, Hyperion, audiences will hopefully come to love the rag-tag band of shady and slightly unstable heroes, who use their smarts and what comes to hand to undermine every plan Handsome Jack sets in motion.

One area that many fans are still curious about is the role of the player character, which could be cast several different ways, and perhaps even split into more than one part.

In the Borderlands games, the player gets to pick a character with a particular skill set: Maya, who is a siren like Lilith with powers like phase lock; Zero, who has a doppelgager ability, Salvador, whose gunserker ability allows him to double wield any weapon for a limited time, and Axton who has a serious love affair going with his turret.

Not much is known about the plot of the film beyond what is presented in the game, so fans will probably have to wait before they get answers to that or to any other burning questions they may have.

Borderlands is currently in production, but has not set a release date as of this writing.
