It has been over a month since it was first announced that Emilia Clarke has officially joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion series, and now the Game of Thrones alum has finally opened up about her major casting by revealing the reason why she decided to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking with Comic Book, Clarke shared that her admiration to the franchise and the people behind the project were the major deciding factors that really drew her into signing on to the upcoming Disney+ series.
“I just think what they’re doing right now is so exciting and so cool, and so on the cutting edge of it. I feel like they’re like the Apple of this world,” Clarke explained. “To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.’ Honestly speaking, the people that are making this are what pushed me over the line to really wanting to do it. I just think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one.”
The announcement of the acclaimed actress’ casting definitely leveled up the hype surrounding Secret Invasion, especially due to the circulating theories about the undisclosed character that is set to portray. Some fans are speculating that she might potentially take on the role of S.W.O.R.D director Abigail Brand, while others are convinced that she might play Veranka, who is the Skrull Queen in the comics.
