The streaming service’s latest release is the sci-fi action film Outside the Wire which stars Anthony Mackie of MCU fame.
But just where was Outside the Wire filmed? What filming locations were used to create the Eastern Europe warzone?

Outside the Wire exploded its way onto Netflix on January 15th, 2021.
Set in the near-future of 2036, Outside the Wire tells the story of a drone pilot, Harp (Damson Idris), who is sent into a conflict-ridden warzone where he serves under an android officer, Leo (Anthony Mackie).
Together, Leo and Harp, alongside the US Army’s new robotic soldiers, must work together to take down a local crime lord (Pilou Asbæk) who is vying for access to a deadly doomsday device.
Where was Outside the Wire filmed?
- Outside the Wire was filmed in Budapest, Hungary.
As the film’s opening text tells us, Outside the Wire is set in Eastern Europe but it’s never revealed exactly where the film takes place.
To capture that Eastern European feel, Budapest – the capital city of Hungary – was used as Outside the Wire’s central filming location.
Filming on the project began in August 2019 and lasted for a total of eight weeks.
In Budapest itself, the city’s 7th District (also known as Erzsébetváros) played host to much of the shoot, focusing on Marek Jozsef Street and the neighbouring Muranyi Street.
Outside of Budapest, more rural filming took place in and around the village of Kiskunlacháza.

Budapest has long been a popular filming location, in-part thanks to the Hungarian Film Incentive scheme that entices film crews to use the destination.
According to IMDb, over 2,800 productions have used Budapest as a location with the most recognisable including Netflix’s The Witcher, Blade Runner 2049, Terminator: Dark Fate, The Martian as well as the upcoming films Black Widow and Dune.
Outside the Wire is available to stream now on Netflix after releasing on January 15th, 2021.
