Spider-Man 2 Has 2 Obvious Choices for Special Suits

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans have been suggesting suits for the sequel since before it was announced, and there have been some great ideas thus far. The Moon Knight and Spider-Man mash-up Arachknight has been one of the more popular suggestions, as has Otto Octavius’ Superior Spider-Man costume. Miles Morales’ recent Captain America-inspired outfit would also be fun, as would Zombie Hunter Spider-Man from the MCU’s What If…? series.

While all these costumes would be welcome, there are two other costumes that seem like no-brainers. Despite this, they have not been suggested by fans nearly as much, though the upcoming release of Spider-Man: No Way Home could change that. With many Spidey fans likely planning to rewatch the Raimi trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man movies ahead of No Way Home’s release, they could get a reminder of two costumes that were worn by the live action Spider-Men for a brief amount of time. While they may not be the most recognizable suits, including Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s very first costumes in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 simply makes sense.

Tobey Maguire’s First Spider-Man Suit

Of the two handmade suits, the one worn in the original Spider-Man movie is the most likely to come to the game. This is because of the sheer popularity of Tobey Maguire’s take on the wall-crawler. While the movies do have their flaws, they do other things very well, and a combination of nostalgia and memes have helped make the Raimi movies iconic over the years. As such, many players would likely be happy to wear the first costume designed by Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

Worn after he first gets his powers, and before he learns a very important lesson regarding power and responsibility, Spidey’s wrestler attire is a nice mix between goofy and memorable. Dubbed “The Human Spider,” the suit features a stylish red sweatshirt with a hastily-made Spider symbol. A red balcava mask shoes Peter’s eyes clearly, while some white gloves and blue pants complete the look. Though it is hardly protective, it gets the job done when it comes to fighting in a wrestling ring, and it could stand out from other costumes.

Andrew Garfield’s First Spider-Man Suit

With Tom Holland’s homemade suit already in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man, and the sequel having a great opportunity to add Tobey Maguire’s, it is only fair that Andrew Garfield’s first suit gets some love. Though the movies’ mishandling of Spidey’s villains and a hipster Peter Parker have led to them being the least popular of the three big live action adaptations, The Amazing Spider-Man series has its fans. As such, the “Vigilante” suit should get some love.

While the first costume worn by Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man is incredibly basic, that is part of the charm. Peter can be seen wearing a regular jacket and a pair of jeans, with his hands exposed and no blue seen anywhere. The only sign of the classic Spider-Man appearance is a bright red mask, with some sunglasses worn over the eyes and a beanie placed on top of Peter’s head. The costume looks just like what someone would throw together if they tried to go out and fight crime in real life, and while many would rather see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit added first, there is no reason that both cannot come. The “Vigilante” suit has already been seen in The Amazing Spider-Man tie-in games, and it should make another appearance in Insomniac’s sequel.

While Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Integrated suit and Black and Gold costume are both shoo-ins for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac should not stop there. With the next movie all-but-confirmed to feature the other live action wall-crawlers, it only makes sense to include some suits based on them. The first suits worn by Tobey and Andrew could be a ton of fun, especially if they do not come alone. While the Symbiote Raimi suit and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit should obviously take priority, the “Human Spider” and “Vigilante” are too good to pass up on.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release in 2023 on PS5.
