12 of 15 Cases Involved Violence

The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 15 new criminal complaints this week. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, 12 of those cases involved some form of violence.

“Eight of those are interpersonal or family related violence,” Pabst said. “We charged a sexual abuse of children case, a partner or family member assault, a partner or family member assault second offense, a criminal endangerment combined with a PFMA, three strangulation cases, and then a violation of an order of protection.”

In the non-family violence category, Pabst said her office charged an aggravated assault.

“In that case, the allegation is that the defendant randomly jumped the victim as the victim was exiting a business and tackled him, causing serious injury,” Pabst said. “The victim was able to get up from the attack and ran back into the building. We also charged another violation of an order of protection and a robbery case. In the robbery, the allegations are that the defendant entered the Stockman Bank on Broadway and demanded $2,000 in cash.”

That defendant allegedly admitted to robbing the bank and was quite intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

“We also charged two felony theft cases,” Pabst said. “In one, the allegation was that the defendant was in possession of a stolen vehicle. Finally, in the administrative crimes category, we charged unsworn falsification to authorities. In that case, the allegation is that the defendant filed a false report making accusations against an employer through part of an ongoing wage dispute.”
